Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar School
This school - known locally as TWIGGS – was founded in 1905 since when it has become a leading school locally and nationally with ex-pupils ranging from Wimbledon Champion Virginia Wade to stand up comedian Jo Brand.
TWGGS was one of my earliest portraits and I recall it being a challenging subject to paint due to the proximity of other buildings and its long frontal profile.
The view I settled upon was from the upstairs window of an adjacent house.
