Malvern St JamesMalvern St James

Up to 1919, this school was the Imperial Hotel situated opposite Great Malvern station. The station’s still there which makes it very handy for the boarders – one of whom was Dame Barbara Cartland - dragging heavy trunks to school each term.

Malvern is a lovely old town and I spent a super weekend there visiting the school and taking photographs.

I actually painted this school portrait twice because a tree just seemed to arrive in the middle of my first painting so I moved it to one side in my second. I became so well acquainted with the school’s many windows that I could paint them in my sleep!
